Finding a flatmate in Yerevan or Istanbul is harder than it should be. Telegram groups are noisy. Facebook is full of scams. Local agencies want a month's rent up front for a service that ends after one viewing.
We built Yaramir because we kept getting burned by the same problems — wasting weekends on no-shows, getting catfished by photos that didn't match, ending up living with people whose schedules turned every Tuesday into a fight about dishes.
What's different
Three things, in order of importance:
- Compatibility first. Deal-breakers, schedules, and lifestyle preferences are matched up front. First conversations skip the small talk and get to the parts that actually decide whether you can live together.
- Vouches from real flatmates. Star ratings are too easy to fake and too thin to mean anything. A past flatmate vouching for someone — by name, with two sentences of context — is a real signal.
- Imported listings, filtered — not vetted. We pull listings from Telegram, Facebook, and local sources, drop the ones missing the basics, and keep agency and hostel posts out. When the same contact or the same post keeps reappearing, you see a caution chip. We do not scan listing text for scam wording, so treat every imported listing as unverified until you have seen the home yourself.
What's next
We're starting with Yerevan and Istanbul. Adding more cities is a function of building enough trust signal in each — a city without vouches is just another search engine.
